Sahara India Pariwar came into being in the late 1970s. We began our venture in Gorakhpur, a small town in Uttar Pradesh, India. We had a modest capital of Rs 2,000 (USD 43) and a team of 3 workers. From one establishment, we served 42 depositors. And the responsibility of 15 dependants rested on our shoulders.
Today, over 30 years later, we have 1,707 establishments all across India from where we serve over 6.10 crore depositors (1 out of every 17 Indians). We have assets worth over Rs 50,000 crore (USD 10.87 billion), a huge family of 9.10 lac workers, and we safeguard the livelihood of over 4.55 million dependants.
From a single business, we have expanded to 32 businesses in 9 industries-Financial Services, Real Estate, Travel and Hospitality, Media and Entertainment, Infrastructure, Retail, Manufacturing, IT Services and Other Services.
Only two things haven't changed in the last 30 years - we still don't have a single owner or even a trade union.
All our Promoters, Shareholders, Directors and Partners are from the worker's rank and have taken an oath through notary affidavit in the court of law that neither they nor their family members can ever share the profit or assets of the company.
Such is the dedication and altruistic spirit of the world's largest family - Sahara India Pariwar.
